FAQ

How to mount Your SnapMax

Click HERE to see the video instructions.
Click HERE to check your tension rods are long enough.

  1. Find the correct mounting brackets for your drum size HERE
  2. Define where you want the block on the snare drum and remove the closest two tension rods temporarily.
  3. Holding the block in front of you with the PAT.PEND.- text readable and pointing upward. Loosely screw the selected mounting brackets onto the SnapMax with the provided Allen key. Each bracket is marked with a left (L) and right (R) mark on the bottom and an arrow pointing up to avoid confusion.
  4. Position the SnapMax so that the slots on the mounting brackets align with the holes on the drum hoop. Then insert the tension rods through the slot and the hoop into the the drum lug hereby clamping the bracket between the tension rod and the hoop of the drum.
  5. Make sure your SnapMax is in the right position and tune your drum to the desired tuning. Thereafter tighten the two Allen screws until finger tight and then release a quarter or half turn for optimum sound.
  6. Enjoy!
  7. After playing, you have three options:
    a. Leave the block on the drum forever
    b. Remove only the block via the Allen key, leaving the legs attached for transport (suggested)
    c. Remove all parts in reverse order

Here’s a list of drum sizes and lug counts matched with the recommended mounting bracket for each.

Short bracket:

  • 14” drums with 10 lugs
  • 13” drums with 10 or 8 lugs
  • 12” drums with 10 or 8 lugs

Long bracket:

  • 14” drums with 8 lugs
  • 13” drums with 6 lugs
  • 12” drums with 6 lugs

XL- bracket (sold separetly):

  • 14” drums with 6 lugs (vintage drums)

Can it be used as a percussion block?

Absolutely — SnapMax doubles nicely as a standalone percussion block.

Mount it on your kit or hold it in your hand, try different sticks, rods, or mallets, and find your own sound.

Every drummer’s touch is different — so test it out yourself and see what grooves you can get. 🥁

Product Safety & Care

SnapMax is built tough — made from high-performance polymer and tested on real kits — but a little care keeps it playing perfectly for years.

Use & Handling

  • Mount only on standard snare tension rods using the included parts.
  • Check HERE that your rods are long enough and securely tightened before playing.
  • Avoid overtightening; snug is enough.

Heat & Storage

  • Keep SnapMax away from direct sunlight, heaters, or a closed car on hot days.
High heat can temporarily soften 3D-printed materials.
  • Store it in its case or a shaded, cool place when not in use.

Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth — no solvents or alcohol.
  • If it gets dusty, gentle compressed air works fine.

Longevity

  • Normal stick marks are just signs of good playing.
  • If you ever notice unusual wear or looseness, stop using it and reach out to gorillasoundinfo@gmail.com — we’ll help.

What is it made of, and why is it 3D printed?

SnapMax is made from a carefully chosen high-performance polymer — selected after testing countless materials to find the perfect balance of tone, strength, and heat resistance.

Using 3D printing lets us shape the block with extreme precision and control its internal structure for the best possible sound.

It also means we can keep the design compact and drum-friendly, unlike bulky traditional percussion blocks that tend to get in the way.

Every piece is printed and hand-finished in Finland to deliver the tone and feel we were searching for — nothing less.

Sustainability

We produce everything locally and keep waste to a minimum through additive manufacturing — every gram of material has a purpose.

To go even further, we plan to offer B-stock items in the future, giving slightly imperfect pieces a second life instead of scrapping them.

After all, the Gorilla’s natural habitat is already endangered — no need for us to make it worse. 🌍🦍

Who is the Gorilla?

Many think of the Gorilla as a mysterious figure — but really, he’s a drummer just like you and me, driven by a lifelong obsession with sound.

He’s studied sound engineering and production, always chasing that perfect drum tone that feels alive under the sticks.

Each block and accessory is printed, assembled, and tuned by the Gorilla himself in small batches in Helsinki, Finland.

No loans, no big investors — just passion, persistence, and your support.

The Gorilla lives (and grooves) by your hand… or your coin. 🦍

Warranty

Every GorillaSound product is built to last — printed, tested, and assembled by hand in Finland.

We stand by our craftsmanship with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects and material failures under normal use.

That means:

  • If something breaks that shouldn’t, we’ll repair or replace it.
  • If your SnapMax arrives damaged, we’ll fix it immediately.
  • If you modify, melt, or smash it with a hammer… that’s on you 😅

This warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, cosmetic scratches, or damage from heat, misuse, or creative “experiments.”

Need help?
Just email gorillasoundinfo@gmail.com — we’ll get you sorted quickly.

SnapMax is designed to mount securely and safely on standard snare hardware. However, all drums are built a little differently, and mounting any accessory on tension rods can, in rare cases, leave small marks or cause wear over time.
GorillaSound cannot be held responsible for any damage, marking, or thread wear that may occur on your drum, hoop, or hardware during installation or use — whether due to fit, tension rod length, or material differences.
Please follow the installation guide carefully, check your rod lengths, and avoid over-tightening.

Yes — all prices shown in our store include Finnish VAT (25.5 %) for EU customers.

If you order from outside the EU, VAT isn’t charged, but the listed prices remain the same — your local customs office may apply import taxes or fees when the package arrives.

As our EU sales grow, we’ll move to the EU’s “One Stop Shop” system so VAT will automatically match each country’s rate.

1. General Information

All orders are processed and shipped by GorillaSound osk from Helsinki, Finland, using the Finnish postal system (Posti) and its international partners.

At this stage, we ship within the European Union, the United Kingdom, and a selected group of other countries.

If your country is not listed, please contact info@gorillasoundofficial.com, and we will try to find a shipping solution for you.

We currently do not ship to the United States, due to unclear import tariffs and the lack of reliable carrier options for EU-based businesses. We are actively monitoring the situation and hope to add the US in the future.

2. Processing and Handling Time

Orders are usually processed within one business day after payment confirmation.

During high-volume periods, holidays, or unforeseen delays, processing may take longer.

GorillaSound is a small cooperative — and there is, quite literally, only one gorilla packing boxes. If the gorilla gets sick, processing may take an extra day or two. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

You will receive a shipping confirmation email as soon as your parcel leaves our studio.
